Welcome to St Canice’s Co-Ed National School

St Canice’s School is situated on the Granges Rd, in Kilkenny city. It is the largest school in County Kilkenny catering for over 650 pupils. The classes range from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. St Canice’s serves the oldest parish in Kilkenny city. The school was established in 1982 when three local schools, St Canice’s Infants’ School, St Canice’s Boys’ School and The Loreto National School amalgated under the principalship of Mr Liam Moloney.

As principal of St Canice’s Co-Educational school, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website. As you browse through our site you will get a sense of our school’s underlying philosophy, our love of sports, music and outstanding academic achievements.

We pride ourselves in providing primary education for our students in a caring, nurturing and happy environment in which each student is valued. The happiness of the child is stressed as we believe that a child who is happy makes the best progress. We are conscious too of our role in promoting the religious, social and moral development of the pupils. The school is a Catholic school which welcomes children of all religions and nationalities.

We are very fortunate to have truly dedicated teaching staff who work tirelessly to provide excellence in the education of our students.

We are supported hugely by our Board of Management and our Parent Council. As we move towards our new school building we enter a new stage in our school’s history. This is truly an exciting time but also one in which we think of all the great memories that were created in our old building since our school’s foundation in 1982.

We continue to work in partnership with our parents in achieving our goal of ‘courage and confidence in the pursuit of excellence’.

Regards,

Andy Hanrahan
