Skip Around the World Challenge
In October our whole school took part in the Skip Around The World Challenge. Every class took part and every child had a chance to skip either with short ropes, long ropes or hoola hoops. Classes skipped as part of their daily movement breaks and some older classes buddied up with younger classes to make the most of the experience. Our Active Flag committee members were involved in keeping track of the total skips from each class. We also tied in our skipping challenge with Maths Week and we had barometers displayed in our corridors which kept track of the progress of each class group week by week. Children who previously thought they couldn’t skip are now skipping. Skipping rhymes are being learned and children are lining up to skip along to them. Skipping ropes are becoming part of break times on the yard. The whole school loved the challenge and have found a new love of skipping. In total the whole school managed to skip a total of 738,191 skips. We even skipped on our Dress Up for Halloween day.

Active Break Every Day Challenge
Our Senior Infants use ‘Danny Go’ as a movement break between lessons.
Our classes had great fun doing the Active Break Every Day Challenge videos from Croke Park. They were very engaging and perfect for a rainy day inside.
