Gairdín na Scoile
In February 2006, Malcolm Noonam, Bernie Hoban (school secretary R.I.P.) and Mary O’Brien (class teacher) developed a ‘Gairdín na Scoile’ in St. Canice’s Co. Ed. N.S. Over the years this project was enhanced by many parents, children and teachers in particular Nathan Conway.
The garden has been used within the curriculum (Maths- measuring, Art- decorations, bird feeders,S.P.H.E.- mindfulness, sensory experiences..) and has been of great benefit to all especially the children who have enjoyed going out to dig, plant, pick and taste their own produce.
All these experiences will continue in our new school with the addition of a designated outdoor classroom area which will further enhance our learning and caring for our environment.
