GAA
Hurling/ Camogie/ Gaelic Football
We are proud to have a strong tradition of Gaelic Games at St. Canices. Our aim is to foster a love for our national games while developing skills and the importance of teamwork. We encourage all our pupils to participate and below are some of the GAA activities that happen in our school.
Lunchtime Leagues
Our lunchtime leagues give every pupil from 3rd class – 6th class the opportunity to play on a team during lunchtime. We play Gaelic Football from September to November and hurling from February to June.
GAA Coaching with GPO
Stephen Farrell provides coaching from Junior infants to 6th class. This runs throughout the school year.
Hurling 365
In partnership with Dicksboro Gaa, Hurling 365 takes place on Friday mornings @ 8:30 am in James’ Park weather permitting. Pupils play hurling before school while being supervised by teachers and coaches from Dicksboro GAA.
