St Canice's School is situated on the Granges Rd, in Kilkenny city. It is the largest school in County Kilkenny catering for over 650 pupils. The classes range from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. We recently built an autism unit which has three classes caring for 18 children. There are 24 class teachers, 8 Learning Support/Resource teachers, 12 Special Needs Assistants, a secretary and a caretaker in the school.
St Canice's serves the oldest parish in Kilkenny city. The school was established in 1982 when three local schools, St Canice's Infants' School, St Canice's Boys' School and The Loreto National School amalgated under the principalship of Mr Liam Moloney. The current Principal Ms Maria Comerford was appointed in 2004. |
