All four teams are going well in the league stages of the football championships. Boys’ in-school league is running at lunch times.
The Kilkenny City Harriers Annual Primary Schools’ Cross-Country Challenge took place last Monday in the Castle Park. Over 80 4th to 6th class pupils competed with great success. We won 11 individual medals,7 sets of team medals, the “Best Girls’ School” ,”Best Boys’ School and “ Best Overall School” trophies. Well done to all our athletes and to Mr Hanrick who co-ordinates the event.
General Activities
The “Cycling for All” programme has begun with two of our 4th classes. It consists of a 5 week training course in cycling and cycling safety. All 4th and 5th classes will participate. The overall cost is €15 per head but with the aid of grants etc. We will only be asking parents to pay €5
4th class have also started Tag Rugby with Leinster Rugby Coach Noel Devlin. He will be here for the full year and will take 4th, 5th and 6th classes in turn. This is a free activity, funded by Leinster rugby.
Parents’ Association
The Parents’ Association has a recommended policy for birthday parties in younger classes. It was agreed that life would be easier if parents were encouraged to put €5 in an envelope as a gift. This would cut out waste and undue expenditure. The parent hosting the party should put on the invite “Gifts in accordance with Parents’ Association Policy”
