Parent Teacher Meetings
Thursday 23rd: 2.45 to 5.15pm is the official Parent/Teacher Meeting evening. In reality, Parent Teacher Meetings will be held up to and including that week, at mutually convenient times. Please make sure that you contact your child’s teacher to arrange a meeting. Appointment forms have gone out. If you have not received one, check with your child. Spare copies are available from the office. The appointment times are quite short on the afternoon so if you have a lengthy issue to discuss please arrange an appointment for a more suitable time.
Pupils will be finished school at 2.30pm that day to facilitate the meetings. If you are collecting at infant time, 1.45 and it suits you better, you can collect your older children at the same time. Please inform the class teacher by note in your child’s journal.
Homework Hour will not take place on Thursday 23rd.
All music classes are also cancelled for this week.
Football
Hard luck to our boys’ football team who lost the Roinn A final to Gaelscoil last Saturday.
Hard luck also to our Girls’ B panel who lost their semi-final to a stronger Freshford side.
Our Girls’ A panel will contest the Roinn A final v Gowran. This final has yet to be arranged.
Yulefest
Four of our classes have decorated Christmas Stars for Kilkenny Yulefest. These will be on display around the city during Yulefest.
Charity Collection
November’s Charity Collection will be held over until Friday December 15th when we invite pupils to wear their Christmas Jumper and to make a donation to Crumlin’s children’s hospital. This was a very popular fundraiser last year. Jumper is an umbrella term for any Christmas/festive gear- dress, tights, bobbles, hat, scarf etc. A substantial number of our pupils or their siblings are linked in with Crumlin’s Children’s Services and it is a very worthy cause.
This will coincide with the Orchestra Breakfast morning and should make for a very festive atmosphere overall.
Lost and Found
As usual, there are lots of items in the lost and found store. Please use your visit to the parent/teacher meetings as an opportunity to search for any lost items. Some named items have also gone missing so perhaps you can check at home to see if your child has brought home the wrong uniform or tracksuit. Named items in lost and found should only be taken by their owners.
Rugby
Leinster rugby will be starting free coaching sessions in school with 6th class shortly.
Junior Entrepreneur
Ms Tallis 5th class is busy preparing to pitch their business ideas to a judging panel next Monday. One of the business ideas will be chosen as the class project to participate in the Junior entrepreneur Schools’ Programme.
