Charity Collection
Our Charity Collection this week is in aid of Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association. At present one of the school employees is on carer’s leave to care for her spouse who has MN disease. As this disease is sometimes known as the “Silent Disease” we are holding a Sponsored Silence tomorrow between the breaks. 3rd to 6th class will participate in the silence. Ms Conroy has partnered a Junior Infants to 2nd class with each older class and these pairs will pool their donations together for the collection. Thanks to Ms Conroy for organising this collection.
Gairdín na Scoile
Ms O’Brien is currently looking for volunteers to help out in the garden. Generally work is done on a Saturday but if people are available during school time this can also be accommodated.
Easter Raffle
We will be holding our annual Easter Raffle shortly. We will have an Ipad as our main prize but, as you know, the popularity of the raffle lies in the volume of prizes offered-generally between 50 and 70. Prizes for the raffle may be dropped into the office at any stage.
Seachtain na Gaeilge
A great week of activities and “labhairt na Gaeilge” will take place from Monday 13th March. Please encourage your child to take part in all the events, art, handwriting, céilí, poetry recitation etc.
Book Fair
The Book Fair will be held in the foyer for three days from Monday 6th March. Parents are welcome to call in if they wish. The school receives a generous commission in books from Khans as a percentage of the total amount sold.
National Children’s Choir
Our three 5th classes and a number of 6th class students have been learning the repertoire for this year’s National Children’s Choir Concert. The concert will take place in St. Canice’s Cathedral on Thursday April 6th. The children will perform with pupils from KSP and Monrue N.S. Kilkenny and pupils from Waterford and Clonmel. Further details in the next info sheet.
Ten At Ten
We all had great fun participating in the Operation Transformation Ten at Ten on the Tenth in February. We will hold another Ten at Ten on Friday March 10th. We are delighted to have Glenpatrick Spring Water provide a bottle of water for each pupil on that day. This reinforces our Healthy Eating initiative. Many thanks to Kieran Hynes, parent, for this generous offer.
Kilkenny Music Festival
Best of luck to all our pupils who are busy rehearsing and practising to compete in the Kilkenny Music Festival.
