Information Sheet June 16th
Dates to Remember:
Friday June 20th: Sports day 3rd to 6th Scanlon Park (Weather permitting)
***Wed. June 18th Schools’ Swimming Gala the Watershed. Note: Change of date.
We had the wrong date for the Schools’ Swimming Gala. It is on Wed. 18th not Thurs.
6th class tour has been rearranged to facilitate this and will now take place next Monday June 23rd. I announced the teams for the gala on the intercom today and Mr Hanrick will send a note home tomorrow. 2nd class teachers will talk to parents of the 2nd class pupils on the team as their tour also clashes with the gala.
End of Year Mass.
All pupils are invited to attend our end of year mass tomorrow at 10am in St. Canice’s church even if they do not normally attend mass. All staff members wish to attend the mass so if you do not want your child to come to mass could you please drop him/her to school around 11am instead of 8.50.
School Reports
The end of year reports have been posted out to anyone who provided an S.A.E. If you haven’t yet done so please send one in immediately.
Car Boot Sale
St. Canice’s Parents Association would like to thank all volunteers, buyers, sellers (or both) who contributed to the Car Boot Sale on Saturday, 7th June 2014. We would also like to thank the Parish Centre for allowing us to use the Parish Hall on the day. The event was a tremendous success and €1,200 was raised which will now go towards equipment for the Senior Yard We are very interested in getting your comments and feedback to see what worked or didn’t work for similar type events in the future. Please email [email protected] with any feedback to be discussed in confidence at the next Parents Association meeting.
Book Rental Scheme/Book Support Service
Under the Book Rental Scheme each class list contains certain books e.g. readers which are available free/nominal charge to all pupils. As always, we ask you to donate books you are finished with to the school to keep costs down.
Book Support Service is the scheme whereby families can apply for extra support due to particular financial hardship or low income. Application forms have been given to the pupils who have in the past availed of this scheme. If you no longer qualify, please let me know. If you are a new family, or if your circumstances have changed and you would qualify for support, please collect an application form from the office. All application forms must be returned byThurs. June 19th so that the orders can be processed.
I will be collecting this past year’s books from the children next week, so please remind them to bring them in. If you have any old books from other years, please drop them into the school and we will use them.
Hurling/Camogie
* Best of luck to our A hurlers who will contest the A semi final this evening against Mooncoin.
There will be a final newsletter next week.
