Tuesday 22nd: Holidays. School Closes 12 noon for pupils.
Wednesday Jan. 6th: School re-opens. Full Day.
School Carol Service
All parents and friends are invited to our annual Carol Service in the hall on Monday 21st at 1pm. All classes and children take part. As usual, as part of our preparation for our carol service, we are collecting non-perishable food items for the needy. We hope to build a “FOOD MOUNTAIN” in the foyer. Items will be collected from classes every day until Monday and then the food will be sent to the local St. Vincent de Paul Society. Thanks to Ms O’Brien for her work in organising this event.
Christmas Plays
Christmas Play Season is in full swing. If you are coming in to your child’s play please use the entrance door nearest the class room and not the front entrance. Many of these plays are quite short so you need to be on time! Thanks to teachers, children and parents for their hard work in preparing and staging these plays.
Christmas Trees
We entered three Christmas trees in the Kilkenny Christmas Tree Festival held in St. Canice’s Cathedral over the weekend. These trees are now on display in the foyer. Well done to Ms Power/Ms McMahon’s classes, Ms Conlon’s Art Club and Ms Conroy’s 6th class.
Orchestra
The Senior Orchestra will be playing the usual carols at the Carol Service on Monday. Remember to bring your instruments and music.
The last outing of the year for the Senior Orchestra is busking in MacDonagh on Tuesday 22nd from 1pm to 3pm.
Charity Collection
This month’s Charity Collection will be held this Friday Dec 18th. It is in aid of “Abbie’s Pink Tie” a charity which supports the families of children with cancer. The November Collection for the homeless raised €375.72 which has been sent to Peter McVerry Trust.
Playball
The first set of ten weeks Playball sessions has finished. The next set of ten weeks starts on Wed. Jan. 13th. Ms McMahon and Ms Power’s classes will continue as before 1.45 to 245.. If anyone wants to register for the 2.45-3.45 session please contact joe@playball.ie Application forms are available from reception in the school but we do not take back completed forms.
