v St Pat's De La Salle A
St Canice's 5-9 St Patrick's 0-2
On a cold, blustery Friday evening, St Canice's played St Pats in the last round of the league at home in James' Park. Eoghan O'Neill opened up the scoring with a lovely point following a pin-point pass by Harry Shine. St Pats then started to assert themselves more in the game as the first half drew to a close, scoring two nice points from frees before the halftime whistle blew: 0-2 v 0-1 in favour of the Coote's Lane boys.
It was a game of two halves. Canice's dominated proceedings from the second the ball was thrown in. Once again, Eoghan O'Neill opened the scoring with a well taken goal(brilliant pass by Cillian Hackett). The hurling was much sharper now as Canice's gained the upper hand. Points flowed from Brian Manogue, Andrew Brennan/Smyth (one of which was the best score of the day), Eoin Dalton, Mikey Clifford, Patrick Fitzgerald and Rory O'Connor. Tummy Clifford, who was introduced at halftime, made a big difference as he helped himself to three second half goals. The quarter final is the next game and a little improvement will be required in our first touch and striking if we are to progress. Stars on the day were Eamon O'Reilly, Harry Shine, Timmy Clifford, Eoghan O'Neill, Zac McHardy and Niall Rowe. Scorers: Eoghan O'Neill 1-2
Timmy Clifford 3-0
Andrew Brennan/Smyth 0-2
Cillian Hackett 1-0
Eoin Dalton,Mikey Clifford, Brian Manogue, Patrick Fitzgerald, Rory O'Connor 0-1 each
