Our first loss
10/4/2014
We lost to Thomastown today in round 4 of the Roinn A league in a cracking game of hurling. We had had three easy victories before today, but this was a different affair!
The scoreline of 1-11 to 1-4 only tells a part of the story. We trailed 1-7 to 0-0 at half time- not really a true reflection of what had happened at all. We had many chances during the half but failed to convert.
With the aid of a slight second half breeze, we pressed hard during the new half, but we came up against a solid defence.
Thomastown had already played two tough matches( both losses against Gaelscoil and Pats) and they showed the signs of this. We, on the other hand, had our first real battle today, and no doubt this was great preparation for what lies ahead.
A notable feature of today was that 5 fourth class lads finished in our line out, and another one or two were in James Park helping the Roinn C North team beat Gaelscoil.
We lost the battle today, but the result of the war is still very much an unknown.
