School Carol Service
All parents and friends are invited to our annual Carol Service in the hall on Thursday 20th at 1pm. All classes and children take part. As usual, as part of our preparation for our carol service, we are collecting non-perishable food items for the needy. We hope to build a “FOOD MOUNTAIN” in the foyer. Items will be collected from classes every day until Thursday and then the food will be sent to the local St. Vincent de Paul Society. Thanks to Ms O’Brien for her work in organising this event.
Christmas Plays
Christmas Play season is in full swing. If you are coming in to your child’s play please use the entrance door nearest the class room and not the front entrance. Many of these plays are quite short so you need to be on time! Thanks to teachers, children and parents for their hard work in preparing and staging these plays.
Breakfast
St. Canice’s Breakfast takes place tomorrow Friday Dec 12th. This is in aid of the Instrumental Music Programme and is very popular. Breakfast costs €4. And this includes a ticket for the raffle.
Charity Collection
Last week, Ms O’Leary’s 1st class waved off Abbie Butler’s little brother Michael as he was brought to hospital in The BUMBLEANCE. This is an ambulance specially designed for sick children. Check out the photos on our website. A fundraising drive is underway maintain and expand this very worthwhile service. Check out www.bumbleance.com. We will donate our December Charity Collection money to this cause. The collection will take place on Friday 19th, the day of the holidays. Most of the teachers allow the children to have a non uniform day on that day and that will help the children to remember to contribute to the collection.
GAA All STAR
We are delighted to welcome All Star Kilkenny hurler, Cillian Buckley, to our school tomorrow afternoon to present the football medals to the three teams who played in county finals recently.
P.E. Safety
On a sports’ related note, we were reviewing our P.E. policy last week and the issue of P.E. and long hair arose. Anyone with long hair should have it tied back for safety reasons
on P.E. day.
