Silver Circle
Your generous support has brought in just over €10,000 approx for our funds. This is the “bread and butter” money for equipment etc for the year and I am most grateful for your support.
Most of the prizes are won locally. Draw 4 will be held tomorrow.
A special thank you to Mr Hanrick and Ms Conroy for taking on the organisation of this fundraiser.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Thursday 26th: 2.45 to 5.15pm is the official Parent/Teacher Meeting evening. In reality, Parent Teacher Meetings will be held up to, and including that week, at mutually convenient times. Please make sure that you contact your child’s teacher to arrange a meeting. Appointment forms have gone out. If you have not received one, check with your child. Spare copies are available from the office. The appointment times are quite short on the afternoon so if you have a lengthy issue to discuss please arrange an appointment for a more suitable time.
Pupils will be finished school at 2.30pm that day to facilitate the meetings. If you are collecting at infant time, 1.45 and it suits you better, you can collect your older children at the same time. Please inform the class teacher by note in your child’s journal.
Homework Hour will not take place on Thursday 26th.
Shoe Boxes
540 shoe boxes were sent off in the army truck last Monday and €2000 donated for transport costs to Operation Team Hope. Our boxes will be delivered to Africa this year. Thank you for your generosity and thanks to Ms Gannon and Ms Hennessy for organising the collection in the school.
Parents’ Association
The perennial problem of head lice came up at the last Parent Association meeting. Last week you received an Parent Association information letter regarding “Nitless November” I would ask you to remember to check your child’s head again this week end. It is very frustrating for parents and staff to see head lice return to a class time and time again simply because one person or two in the class have not made an effort to eradicate them. If we all work at it for November, there should be a big improvement.
Music
There will be no music lessons next week due to Parent/Teacher meetings being held during the week.
Lions Club Concert takes place at 7.30pm Thursday 10th December. Our Recorder Ensemble and Jazz Band will be performing on the night.
Sports
Huge congratulations to our girls’ A panel who won the Roinn A county final last Wednesday in a thrilling final v Clara. The team showed fantastic skill, team play and determination keep their cool and see off a determined Clara challenge. They have been unbeaten in the campaign thanks to their fantastic work rate and team work. Well done to all concerned.
Best of luck to the boys’ A team as they face Glenmore in their Roinn A County final. This is scheduled for next Sat. Nov 21st 11.45am in Mullinavat.
The Girls’ B team lost out in their quarter final v Firoda/Wandesford. They were beaten by a better team on the day.
All this sporting activity is only possible due to the fantastic commitment from teachers and players alike who spend all their lunch breaks in James Park.
Class Expenses
A final call please for the last few remaining class expense accounts to be settled. We do not have a voluntary contribution. These expenses cover insurance, swimming and other items/services used by your children.

New Building
We are delighted to see that we have been officially included in the Dept. Capital Building Plan for the next 5 years. I have had the team here on site and have been in discussion with them regarding the best way to meet our accommodation needs so it is great to see that this plan will become a reality. In the meantime, we will be looking at installing one final prefab to meet our accommodation needs prior to the new build. At that stage we will have three streams of each class and that is as big as the school can get.
