Hello everyone
I hope you all had a good week. Last week we did the story “Ring Ring” This week we have an information story called “Sharks” You can read this story on your computer.
There is a work sheet to be printed or read from your computer. This page can be done orally or written.
We then have six questions which your will answer while discussing the story.
I have given you some words to put in a sentence, choose five. It is up to you whether you will just say the sentence or write it down.
On the other side of your work page we have naming words to be put into groups and finally you will be asked to match two phrases together to make a sentence.

This week we will read a short story called “Ring Ring”

It has a lot of question words you will spot them written in red.
You will answer four questions about the story and for question five you will have to say why you think Ann found herself sitting on top of the lions house.
Then using your new question words put the correct question word at the beginning of each sentence and answer each question in the space provided.

FINALLY one last thing if you have time, write two sentences of your own using any two of the question words given.

Hello everyone.
I hope you were able to do last weeks work sheet.
This week's sheet is revision of what we did last week:
Giving change out of a euro,
Estimating the sum of two numbers by rounding each number to the nearest 10 before adding.
Writing numerals as words.
Regrouping, that is moving one ten from the tens and putting it with the units.
Finding the difference between two numbers by complementary addition: EG: How many more must I put with 8 to get 11, the answer is 3, I know that because 8 + 3 = 11 and the difference between 8 and 11 is 3.
You will also have one challenge sum at the end.
Keep up the very good work, I promise you that it will make you so much better at your maths.

Hello everyone
Last week we practiced rounding number s and writing numbers as words. We will keep revising that as we go on.
This week we are going to practice giving change out of €1.
Here’s how we have been doing it: Lets say you want to buy and apple for 26c. You give the shopkeeper €1.
We calculate the change by counting from 26c up to 100c.
So 26 + 4 += 30
30 + 20 = 50
50 + 50 = 100
Answer: 4 + 20 + 30 = 54c OR €0.54.
It is helpful to draw a number line for this like we did in class. You will see on the answer sheet.
Have a go. You might even be able to do some of them in your head!!!
