Confirmation
It is the custom in the school that 5th class children support their 6th class schoolmates by forming the choir for confirmation. As well as helping out on the day, this also gives the 5th class children an insight into the sacrament of confirmation and makes them familiar with the whole order of the ceremony. All 5th class pupils will be expected to sing at the Confirmation on Saturday April 23rd. If there is a pressing reason why your child cannot be there please put a note in the homework diary to your 5th class teacher. This year, in particular, as there are only two 5th classes we need a good turnout.
Thank you to the large number of 6th class parents who volunteered to lead the Parish Confirmation Programme. It was a great success and is very beneficial to the pupils.
Book Fair
Thank you to all the pupils and parents who supported our book fair. As a result of the books sold we received €1000 credit in Khan’s book shop. Teachers use this credit during the year to top up library supplies and to buy extra readers.

Two Clarifications and two extra news items!
The Charity Collection/No Uniform Day for Cois Nore is on Friday April 29th not tomorrow.
To clarify my notice re: Closing of School gates – the gates were closed to close off access to the main road and the dangers posed by the traffic there.
Playball
Joe from Playball has asked me to let you know that the next set of Playball sessions (8 weeks) begin on Wed nextApril 27th 2.45pm.
For details or to register contact Joe Byrne, 0877749598, or joe@playball.ie Their website is www.carlow.playball.ie
James Park
Many pupils have been crossing James Park to come to and go home from school. The Agricultural Committee have locked the gate up near the dog track so there is no safe exit for the pupils. It seems that they are climbing the fence. It is a high fence and not safe for children to be climbing or jumping from so perhaps while the gates are locked you could make alternative arrangements for your child.
We do not have a key for that gate here in school so we have no control over opening and closing it.
