Football Final
Best of luck to our boys’ football team who will contest the Roinn A final v C.B.S. in Dunmore tomorrow morning at 10.30am. We hope to bring the Bertie O’Callaghan Cup back to our school for the 4th year in a row. As many of the boys are involved in soccer matches straight after the football, the customary after match meal will be held on a different day.
New Prefab
The new prefab will be installed over the next few weeks. We have had a health and safety meeting with the engineers and builders. Certain procedures have been put in place to ensure the children’s safety during these works and safety procedures will be constantly reviewed.
Yulefest
Our ASD classes have painted and decorated three Christmas soldiers in conjunction with Kilkenny Yulefest. These will be on display in the grounds of Butler House from today until Christmas.
Christmas TreesWe will also have a number of Christmas trees in the Kilkenny Christmas Tree Festival in St. Canice’s Cathedral. These trees will be on display in the Cathedral for a week from December 8th . Well done to Ms Mc Grath ,Ms McMahon, Ms Conway and Mr Hanrick’s classes and to Aileen and Ms Conlon’s Art Club.
Charity Collection-Christmas Jumper for Crumlin
November’s Charity Collection has been held over till next Friday December 9th when we invite pupils to wear their Christmas Jumper and to make a donation to Crumlin’s children’s hospital. Jumper is an umbrella term for any Christmas/festive gear- dress, tights, bobbles, hat, scarf etc A substantial number of our pupils or their siblings are linked in with Crumlin’s Children’s Services and it is a very worthy cause.
The Food Mountain collection will be our December Charity Project.(-See Carol Service below)
School Carol Service
All parents and friends are invited to our annual Carol Service in the hall on Wednesday 21st at 1pm. All classes and children take part. As usual, as part of our preparation for our carol service, we are collecting non-perishable food items for the needy. We hope to build a “FOOD MOUNTAIN” in the foyer. Items will be collected from classes every day until Tuesday and then the food will be sent to the local St. Vincent de Paul Society. Thanks to Ms O’Brien for her work in organising this event.
Christmas PlaysChristmas Play Season will soon be in full swing. If you are coming in to your child’s play please use the entrance door nearest the class room and not the front entrance. Many of these plays are quite short so you need to be on time! Thanks to teachers, children and parents for their hard work in preparing and staging these plays.
OrchestraOrchestra breakfast takes place on Friday Dec 16th. This has become one of the most popular events in the school and is an important fundraiser for the music programme. Thanks to Shirley and the Music Committee for all their work during the year and particularly for this event.
The Senior Orchestra will be playing the usual carols at the Carol Service on Monday. Remember to bring your instruments and music.
The last outing of the year for the Senior Orchestra is busking in MacDonagh on Thursday 22nd from 1pm.

Reminders:
- The school grounds should not be used for dog walking purposes during or after school hours. This is a health and safety issue.
- Children should not be left unaccompanied on the school grounds before or after school hours or after music lessons. The playground is very isolated and not a nice place to be on your own in these dark winter days.
