Tree Day in Jenkinstown Park
On the 8th of October, three sixth classes from St Canice's School went on a bus to Jenkinstown Woods. When they arrived, they got off the bus and left their lunches on the bus. Then they went up to the bench area and had a 2 minute talk with PJ Trait about National Tree Day. He explained that National Tree Day had a tree to represent Tree Day. He said that the tree was hazel and that on one of the stops the children would see a hazel tree. One one of the stops, they saw Sika deer. Everyone was eager to see them. On the fourteenth stop everyone thought they were going to get lunch but then PJ said they had one more stop and then everyone could get lunch straightaway. When the children got lunch they had some time to play games and then it was time to go back to the school. The children got a bag with a pencil and pen to remind them about National Tree Day. The name on the bag was 'Coillte' When they came back to school the children had a quiz on what they had learned in Jenkinstown
