Book Rental Scheme/Book Support Service
Under the Book Rental Scheme each class list contains certain books e.g. readers which are available free/nominal charge to all pupils. As always, we ask you to donate books you are finished with to the school to keep costs down.
Fines are applied to children who do not return rental books or who return them in an unusable condition.
Book Support Service is the scheme whereby families can apply for extra support due to particular financial hardship or low income. Application forms have been given to the pupils who have in the past availed of this scheme. If you no longer qualify, please let me know. If you are a new family, or if your circumstances have changed and you would qualify for support, please collect an application form from the office. All application forms must be returned by Thurs. June 11th so that the orders can be processed.
As per last year, sets of books will be given out on receipt of class expenses due. These may be paid in June/July, in August/September or half and half.
I will be collecting this past year’s books from the children next week, so please remind them to bring them in. If you have any old books from other years, please drop them into the school and we will use them.
Hurling/Camogie
* Best of luck to our A hurlers who will contest the A Final replay V Thomastown in St. John’s Park tomorrow at 7pm and to our A girls panel who will play Gaelscoil in the A Shield final in James Park next Tuesday at 3pm.
* Congratulations to Stephen Dermody who has been picked to contest the “Lift & Strike” skills in the Carlow tournament and also at half time in the Kilkenny Wexford Leinster Semi-Final in Nowlan Park on June 21st.
* On foot of our victories in the mini sevens Gaelic, Girls’ football and Camogie, three pupils have been chosen to play in Croke Park during the All Ireland Hurling and Football series.
* Timmy Clifford will play at the football semi final. Emer Stynes will play at the All Ireland football final and Eva Collins will play at the August 9th hurling semi final.
* Well done to all and we hope it will be one of many appearances in Croke Park for them.
