Summer Fete
Despite the weather and the Bank Holiday weekend, the Summer Fete was a huge success. A huge thanks to our Parents’ Association, who organised the event, to the big numbers of parent volunteers without whom the day could not be run and to all of you who supported the event on the day. A total of €6,283.59 was raised and will go into the IT funds.
Thank you also to the wide range of local businesses who supported us. A separate thank you letter will be going to each business this week.
Book Rental Scheme/Book Support Service
Thank you for returning the forms so promptly. Pupils availing of this scheme will be given a separate note with all details next week. Expenses may be paid and books collected either Thursday or Friday July 2nd & 3rd or4th or Thurs and Fri August 27th & 28th 11am to 1pm.
Swimming Gala
This was postponed yesterday and we are waiting for confirmation of the new date. Any child swimming in the gala will receive a note from Mr Hanrick as soon as he knows the details.
Final Charity Collection
Our final collection this year takes place next Friday and is aid of Temple St. Children’s Hospital. We will link the fact that our pupils here are fit and well and can take part in the sports sessions mentioned below with the concept of remembering children who are not as fortunate and may be too unwell to participate in any fun activities.
Hurling/Camogie
* Congratulations to our A hurlers who won the A Final replay V Thomastown in St. John’s Park last week. They gave an impressive display of hurling.
* Congratulations also to our A girls panel who beat Gaelscoil in the A Shield final in James Park yesterday. Both teams enjoyed an after match meal in Eddie Rocket’s.
* The medals for the finals will be presented by Michael Fennelly who is spending three days in the school over the next two weeks running sports and fitness sessions for the children. All classes will have a session. This is a reward for all the hard work and good behaviour over the past year.
* Ciara Mullan has been chosen to play in Nowlan Park next Sunday at half time in the Senior Leinster final, Kilkenny v Wexford. Ms Murphy will be team manager on the day. Well done and best of luck to both of them.
* Class League Finals will be held next week in Nowlan Park.
* Many thanks to Irene and Padraig Lawlor of the Gourmet Store who sponsored the Sports’ Day medals.
General Amnesty!
As year end approaches, as usual, we will have an amnesty on missing property. If you have or find any school items in your house-jerseys, beanbags, books etc I would be grateful if you could drop them back to reception-no questions asked!!
Finally please collect all lost property items and remind your child to bring home bags, books, lunch boxes, jackets, gear etc by the end of term. Items remaining will be donated to a charity shop in the summer clear out.
