Confirmation Stories
It was my confirmation on Saturday and I am going to tell you about it. I woke very excited not about the ceremony but about the day being all about me. My mam called me and Joey to get our breakfast and told me that I was in charge because my dad was gone to the farm and she was going to get her hair done. When my mam and dad left, it was just me, Joey and Jill. I made us pancakes and I put Nutella on them. They were lovely. Then me and Joey cleaned our room and after that we played a little bit of Fifa.
When my dad came back we were relaxed but when my mam arrived it all changed. She was running around making sure everything was right. When she calmed down it was time to go When we got to the church I could not see my sponsor I was very worried and I had to get my dad to sit with me. There was five minutes to go I was even more worried but then I saw him and I got my dad to go get him. When he came down he said "sorry I'm late ".I had to bring up a candle but before that I had to be confirmed, I was third to be confirmed so it was grand but it did go on for 20 minutes. When it was time to bring up the candle I did what my teacher said walk up and line up. At the end of the ceremony I remembered that I had to take a lot of pictures and I hate pictures a lot. The ceremony went on for 1 hour and a half After I got pictures taken with the lads and the Bishop it was time to go home. The first people there were my aunt and my cousins I had to get pictures with them too. Well I guess you do not want to hear about anymore pictures. When all my cousins and friends came we played a match. It was great fun. After that it was time for dinner. All us kids had pizza and the adults had some fancy curry. After that we all played a Fifa tournament which I won. After that it was time for everyone to go home. It was a great day. By Eoin Dalton |
I woke up looked at my watch. 7: 15! I couldn’t believe it. It was actually my confirmation. I’ve been talking about this since the day after my communion. I got out of bed went down the stairs and got ready. My mam started to get ready at 8:30 and finished at 10:05. I don’t get why girls take about 2 and a ½ hours getting ready! At 10:35 my godfather came over and we all went down to the church and waited until the bishop came.
When the bishop came I saw Shay McEvoy and Nobin Rebi serving in the church. When the bishop came he was wearing a big hat and holding a big stick. When he got up to the altar he started saying a few prayers. Finally it was time to be confirmed. When I saw the group in front of me going up I got butterflies in my stomach. Then it came to our group. Ciara Mullan went first then me and Rosie. Rosie led the way and had just been confirmed when it came to my turn. The bishop was confirming the girl beside me and then it came to me. I said “Mikey David “and he said “Mikey David be sealed with the gifts of the holy spirit.””Amen”. “Peace be with you” “and with your spirit”. He shook my hand and blessed me. Shortly after that the ceremony was over and I went to my confirmation party and had lots of fun. At about 7 o clock someone tapped me on the shoulder and when I turned around Cillian Buckley was there with a present for me! I was so happy. It was a present I’ll never forget - a picture of me and Timmy signed by the whole Kilkenny team! It was a day I’ll never forget. by Mikey Clifford |
