Second Skin Fifth Class at the Art Exhibition
On January the 21st we went to the Kilkenny Design Centre. It was a part of our art . A lady was giving us a tour.
Our first exhibition was about how fashion designers work. In the first room we learn how to design a dress. We pretended the dress was for Victoria Beckham. We learned that you need to plan it before you start designing. We saw how to make cotton into a spool of sewing thread. The woman who gave us the tour showed us a skirt which was made out of thread and told us how to dye white silk. She told us a material called cotton can grow on a plant. In the second exhibition she showed us four handmade dresses made by four fashion designers called: Jennifer Rothwell, Joanne Hynes, Natalie B Coleman and Lennon Courtney. All the designers got inspired by either a book, a movie or a painting. The first dress by Jennifer was multi-coloured and had a reflection of two bodies. The second one by Natalie was grey and had a picture of a tornado on it. The third one by Lennon Courtney was green with wooden shoulder pads and the last one by Joanne was a multi-coloured and thickly knit jumper. There was also jewellery made out of plastic. My favourite one (Katy) was the one by Natalie. My favourite one (Alison) was also the one by Natalie. The tornado dress costs €3050. We enjoyed this particular exhibition because it was very interesting. By Katy L. & Alison Smith Mrs O’Connor’s 5th Class |
