V Gowran
In part one of today's double header, we went down tamely to a Gowran team that we might have beaten with a more determined display.
We were short a few players early on due to other school commitments but the team we lined out should have been well good enough to offer up a better performance.
When we conceded a couple of "soft" goals midway through the first half we were always chasing the game and never looked like getting those necessary scores to get back into it.
We regrouped at half time and were still in with a chance with a deficit of 2-4 to 0-3.
However, when Gowran scored another soft goal with their first attack of the second half, then we really were in trouble.
To our credit, we did put in a much stronger second half effort but the gap was too wide to close.
Some players today were outstanding, but the one that stands head and shoulders over all others was Shane O Brien. What a game he had from start to finish. His energy, skill and bravery were incredible, and even when bigger and older players were slacking off, Shane was always getting stuck in. Well done Shane!!
It looks now like we will be competing in Roinn D for the playoffs, and with performances like today that is probably where we deserve to be.
We have a couple of games left in this league to redeem ourselves and show out true worth- hopefully we can string a couple of victories together and prepare for the knockout stages.
