THE SCREAM
By Jane Murphy
5th Class Ms. O’Connor
“Aaagrrr”, screamed Laura, “There's a spider ew, ew”! Laura ran down the stairs and told her Mam, Sinead. “There's a spider in my room”. Her mam got the dustpan and the brush and went upstairs with Laura. “Where's the spider gone?” asked her mam. “I don't know” answered Laura, “but lets look fo him”. “I found him, get him”, shouted Laura. Laura's Mam raced after the spider and picked him up in the dustpan with the brush. “Open the window”, said Laura's Mam. She threw the spider out of the window. A few minutes later Lucy walked into the room and said “Stop screaming and shouting, I'm trying to do my homework”. “I'm going now”, said her Mam. Her Mam left the room. The twins went back to their desks and did their homework.
By the time they had their homework done, it was nine o'clock and it was time to go to bed. In the morning, they woke up and went to school. At school, they did maths, Irish and geography. When they were finished that, it was little lunch. After that they had P.E., history and art. Then it was time for big break. Big break finally came to an end and then they had home economics, religion and music and by the time that was over it as home time. Everyone rushed out of school. “Hurray” they all shouted, “Its finally the weekend”.
Laura and Lucy walked home with their friend Jade. On the way they noticed a house in the woods and it looked haunted. “We should go in there tomorrow” said Jade. All of a sudden the heavens opened and buckets of rain came down on top of them. They ran into the house for shelter. In the house, it was dark and they couldn't see anything. “I have a flash light in my bag”, said Jade. “So do I”, said Lucy. They both took their flash lights out of their bags and turned them on. “Eew”, said Jade “there are so many cobwebs”. The cobwebs were dangling from the roof and tickling their faces and broken floorboards were creaking under their feet. They could hear the rain thundering down on the roof and they got really scared. Lucy screamed “Lets get out of here quick!” They all turned to run towards the door, then Laura tripped over her laces. The other two girls hadn't noticed in the panic to get to the door. The door then slammed shut behind them, with the wind. When they got out of the house they realised to their horror that Lucy was trapped in the house. They could hear her screams above the thunder. They tried to open the door but it was jammed tight. They knew they were in trouble. Lucy frantically tried her phone, but there was no signal. They looked at one another, knowing there was nothing else they could do, but run home.
It was dark as they ran out the gate in a panic. A big hand grabbed Lucy's arm, she screamed in terror. She tried desperately to break away. When she looked up she saw a familiar face to her relief. It was the local Police man. The two girls were relieved and told the whole story to him. He ran to the house and broke down the big black door. They found Laura huddled up in the corner crying. The policeman helped her up and brought the three frightened girls back to their houses. They were so pleased to be back home safely they vowed always to come straight home in future.
