Semi final v St Patrick's
7/11/2013
John's Park
Canices 3-8 St. Pats 0-5
Fine display in semi
We played Pats today in the Roinn A semi final and recorded a comfortable win. We face Thomastown in the decider some day next week.
Captain Cian Rowe lost the toss and we played against a fresh breeze towards the town end in the first half. Pats started well but their early attacks were well repelled by our defenders, in particular Patrick O Shea, Padraig Moylan and Dacel Fwamba. Our other three backs were also in top form: Ronan Lavelle, David Dehahunty and Niall Rowe.
In midfield, both Liam Moore and Shay McEvoy won their battles, while up front, with a constant supply of ball coming in, all forwards looked good. They used the ball well and got some impressive scores. We led 3-6 to 0-0 at half time, and used the second half to give all our subs a run out. Indeed many of them made a huge impression when introduced.
Today's line out was:
C Rowe
D Delahunty P Moylan R Lavelle(0-1)
P O Shea D Fwamba(1-0) N Rowe
S McEvoy L Moore
K Fitzpatrick T Clifford (0-2)M Clifford
K Hackett(2-1) A Murphy (0-3)E Dalton(0-1)
I O Keeffe. D Conway L Morrissey R O Connor D Kelliher
E O Neill D Lawlor K Phelan T O Meara
Lollipop winners:
Cian Rowe for great save in 2nd half, and good kick outs.
Killian Hackett for his two excellent first half goals, and even better point.
David Conway for super second half defence.
Aaron Murphy for brilliant pointed free in second half.
Ian O Keeffe for sound defence at full back in second half, and for thoughtfulness to bring water to players in first half.
