v Graignamanagh
St. Canice’s V Graiguenamanagh
St. Canice’s 4-11 Graiguenamanagh 0-3
On a sunny Wednesday evening, May 14th, in Palmerstown, we recorded our fourth victory in succession in the Roinn B Educational Supplies hurling league. Our opponents were playing their third match in four days and were showing the signs of tiredness.
From the time Cillian Buckley opened the scoring with a point from a 65 in the 5th minute to when Cian Tynan scored his second, and Canice’s fourth goal, at the end of the game, we dominated in most sections of the field.
The Graiguenamanagh goalkeeper did great work on numerous occasions, making many fine clearances. At center back, Nicholas O Donnell was a tower of strength and up front, at corner forward John Lennon was a constant threat when the ball reached his area.
For St. Canice’s, our defenders were generally on top, in particular Kevin Nolan and Robbie McPartlan in the half back line. Our midfielders, David Glynn and Jimmy Keohane had strong performances, and the pick of our forwards were Chris Dawson, Colm Manning and Cillian Buckley.
We were happy with our display on the day but we know our next two outings against Thomastown and Gowran will be far more competitive games.
Team: C Gough, J Horan, D McNamara, P Byrne, C Kavanagh, K Nolan, R McPartlan, J Keohane, D Glynn, C Buckley, D Hogan, C McPartlan, C Tynan, C Dawson, C Manning. Subs: A Cantwell, R McPhillips, B Donegan, E Cantwell, JJ Hickey, E Guilfoyle
