v Johnstown
St. Canices 3-7 Johnstown 4-3
Clohosey scores late late winner
In our first C/D outing of the year, we scored a fantastic win away to Johnstown on a cold drizzly 22nd March evening. Given that we conceeded two goals in the first minute, this was a remarkable comeback. We did eventually settle down but still trailed 3-2 to 1-3 at half time, the goal scored by the impressive Darren Bawle.
Our second half hurling was brilliant, and we should really have been more than three points up going into the last 3 minutes. We held Johnstown to just one point in the second half up to that time, but in one of their very few attacks of the half, they scored an equalising goal. However, Shane Clohosey was not finished scoring yet-he had already scored 1-2. He collected the ball on the 21, turned and soloed round his man into an impossible position on the end line and swerved the ball over the bar for a well earned victory.
It would be unfair to single out any player for his contribution today as everyone played a huge roll in this win. We just look forward to round 2 after Easter!
