Review of Attendance Policy St Canice's Co-Ed N.S
Dear Parent,
We are reviewing several school policies at the moment as part of ongoing school review and development. The procedure involved is as follows: Policy review is co-ordinated by an assistant principal and /or principal. When a policy is due for review or if external events such as a Dept. Directive make a review necessary, the relevant staff management members review the existing policy to see if it is in line with requirements and if it suits the current profile of the school. If changes are required they are made. The policy or amended policy is then reviewed by staff. Next, the draft is presented to the parent body for parent input. This is done in a few different ways depending on the policy-through the Parents’ Association, through the website, through email or in hard copy form where parents are in the school e.g. Parent Teacher meetings. The suggestions etc are then reviewed by the co-ordinating team and where necessary, brought back to staff. The final step is where an agreed, amended policy is brought to the Board of Management and is further discussed. When the board is happy with a policy , it is ratified and signed by the board. It then becomes official school policy until the next review. Over the next few months I will be posting policies for your input/observations/suggestions.
